The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect – of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence… – Dean Kamen
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE
Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult Coaches, FIRST LEGO League* teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS®, then compete on a table-top playing field.
This year our “Defenders of the Galaxy” built a grey water system capitalizing on what would be wasted water to replenish lawns and gardens.
* In order to create an effective learning environment FLL is limited to 10 members, grades 4-8. Practices are scheduled by the Team Leader and may require additional time commitment as the season progresses.
